Thinkpad Comparison

T400

Finally Lenovo Thinkpad series has come to my top consideration in choosing a notebook. There are two types of the Thinkpad series which become my candidate, T series and R series.

T400R3A is the first type i fall in love with. The specification of this type are:

  • Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26 MHz, FSB 1066, Cache 3 MB)
  • 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC-8500 (Standard Memory)
  • 14.1″ WXGA TFT
  • 250 GB Serial ATA 5400 RPM
  • 2.13 kg
  • 3-year Limited Warranty by Authorized Distributor
  • USD 1477 (I have seen somewhere USD 1425)

R400TGA is my second choice because of its price which is lower than T400. The specification of this type are:

  • Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P8400 (2.26 MHz, FSB 1066, Cache 3 MB)
  • 1 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC-8500 (Standard Memory)
  • 14.1″ WXGA TFT
  • 160 GB 5400 RPM
  • 2.5 kg
  • 1-year Limited Warranty by Authorized Distributor
  • USD 1099

For the first time, I only show the performance of the computer here. I see that for USD 326 (IDR 3.260.000) less price, the performance of R400 slightly different from T400.  Of course i believe that T400 has more feature beside of these basic performance. Now i want to see the price of the R400 if i upgrade it until it equal to the T400 series.

  • V-GeN SODIMM DDR3 PC 8500 1GB -> USD 35
  • Seagate 250 GB Serial ATA -> USD 80

This addition will reduce the differences to USD 211.

T4002

Thinkpad portability is suitable for those who can work everywhere. Both of this type support for the portability of the notebook. Beside that, i really like the black color and simple model of the thinkpad. I think it is cool and more masculine if i can have one of those.  Although, maybe, if there is another notebook which slightly more advance in its performance, i think i still prefer to choose thinkpad as my notebook.

Lenovo claims that The T400 series has lower power consumtion upto 30%. This improvement can be seen from lenovo website. Another improvement claimed by lenovo are also the switcable graphic card and its quietness. I think with these advantages and also its weight, it is worthed to pick up the T400 series as the top winner of my choice.
